Day 142 Calla Lily

Friday, May 22 – I bought a miniature Calla Lily plant at Smith’s to do some shots for class. They just beg to have a closeup shot done. I used my 100mm macro. Tomorrow will be roses, I think.

Day 141 Happy 81st Birthday, Dad

Thursday, May 21 -  In honor of my dad, I am posting some cyclamen photos that I took today. They are a challenge to take, as they are very “shy” and don’t pose very well. Aimee and I are heading up to the ranch with a lasagna lunch and sour cream raisin pie which are Dad’s favorites. I feel so lucky to still have my dad to celebrate with. Aimee had a birthday this last week too, so it is a double birthday party.

Day 140 Happy 85th Birthday, Grandma Martha

Wednesday, May 20 – Shot this today at the steam museum. There are so many dandelions out right now. It was Grandma Martha’s 85th birthday today and we went out to Eddy’s to eat with her. She seems so happy in her new home. She was pretty proud that everyone had sang Happy Birthday to her at lunch. My dad’s birthday is Thursday, so have another party coming up.

Day 139 My Sweet Little Buddy

Tuesday, May 18 – My photos from today are downloading right now and it is going to take awhile, so I thought I would share a couple of Tristan photos I took a couple of weeks ago.  I love that little buddy of mine so much. He looks at me with those big blue eyes and I just melt.  I went to Brooke’s spring concert today and got such a surprise. She sang a solo!! And she was good!! I had no idea that that granddaughter of mine could sing. I had so many comments from people about how good she did. She also plays in the orchestra. She and her brother, Chase, are quite the little musicians.

Day 138 Roberta’s Rose

Monday, May 18 – Took this Saturday night at Carl and Roberta’s. I am taking a Lightroom class and have been getting my feet wet with some photo editing. This is hard for me, as I believe in taking the best photo I can in camera and not having to post process. I am including the original and the doctored ones. Roberta just had the flower sitting on her counter and I gave no thought to background, which I wish I had considered. I have learned in my flowers class that there is a place for soft focus. I am so used to sharp focus that this has been one of those things that is hard to get used to. This is one of those places that I think it works.

Day 137 – Game Night and Sleep Over Time

Sunday, May 17 – Carl and Roberta had a game night last night that we were invited to and what fun we had. Jenn and Dan came too and we played CatchPhrase (I hope that is the right name). The men won every single time(they had easier words!!). Katie and Marilynn were having a sleepover too. The two of them decided to do an entertainment session that was just a hoot( baton twirling and dancing). Next it was on to the jetted tub for a soaking session. They decided to wash their hair, but not wash out the shampoo. So it was a trip to the kitchen sink to get that out. Here is a shot I took of Katie after her shampoo incident. Should have had my reflector to get rid of that shadow on her nose, but I still think it is cute. It was a great time that we need to repeat again soon.

Day 136 Happy Birthday, Charlotte!

Saturday, May 16 – Happy Birthday to my sister-in-law, Charlotte. In honor of your big day, I took some shots of the only flowers that we have actually blooming out right now; dandelions. They seem extra hardy and  big this year. I know some consider them weeds, but I think they are very pretty. I had to wait until Mr. Sun went under a cloud so that the light wouldn’t be too intense. It is gorgeous out today and almost 70. It is supposed to be in the 80s tomorrow and Monday.  There are actually some leaves starting to pop out on the trees along the creek. Nothing up here by my house yet, though. Hope your day was a great one, Charlotte!

Day 135 Orange Ruffled Poppy

Friday, May 15 – Here are some views of a orange  ruffled Icelandic poppy. Strange thing is this one opened out ruffled and the last one was smooth on the same plant. It is gorgeous out today and is forecast to reach the upper 80s by Sunday and Monday. We went to Chase’s spring concert last night. He plays trombone in the top 7th grade band and in jazz band. Music seems to be his real interest, as he plays guitar and clarinet also. We are so proud of him making the National Honor Society and having straight A’s his whole first year at East. Tonight is the Missoula Childrens Theatre at Meadow Lark. Becca and Emma were both chosen to perform.  I don’t know if photos are going to be allowed, but I will be taking my camera along. This is one of those times that I realize it would be great to have a point and shoot. Lots of cattle work has been on the agenda lately. We have one more big bunch of cows to work and then we should be set for the summer.

Day 134 Begonia This Time

Thursday, May 14 – Walter bought me a bright orange begonia to shoot for my flowers class, so I did it this morning. Red and orange are hard to shoot and maintain detail. I took some without spraying with water first and will include both ways. My reflector really brought out the water droplets. We woke to several inches of snow this morning. I was planning on shooting some dandelions, which are the only flowers out right now, but that got put on hold for a day or two to let them pop back up.

Day 133 Sweet Lily Jade

Wednesday, May 13 – Decided to share a couple of shots that I took of Lily that last time she was here.  I think she is the cutest little thing.
