Day 91 Happy 64th Anniversary, Mom and Dad

Friday, April 1st – No kidding, April Fool’s Day is Mom and Dad’s anniversary. I can not imagine being married 64 years. But then I have made it almost 43, so maybe I can imagine it. I hope that the weather makes it possible for them to do something special on their special day. I feel so fortunate to have both my parents still with me. Mom and Dad, you mean the world to me. Congrats on tolerating each other for so many years.

Day 90 Off It Comes

Thursday, March 31 – I took Emma to get her cast off yesterday. What an excited kiddo she was and not one bit afraid. The pictures pretty much tell the whole story. She brought her pretty blue cast home for a future “show and tell”, along with her xray photo for proof that her broken arm is healed. Go, Emma!!

Day 89 A Photoshop Watercolor Painting

Wednesday, March 30 – Here is a picture I took last week of one of my Barred Rock Hens that I worked with in Photoshop and turned into a watercolor painting. Make sure to click on the photo to enlarge it to see the change to a painting better. Our last class is tonight and we are having dinner at Boston Pizza before hand. I am going to miss this group very much. Nice thing is, the three of us are in camera club together and will see each other twice a month anyway.

Day 88 Early Morning Fog/Congrats to Chase

Tuesday, March 29 – We have been having so much fog lately that has coated everything with ice. I love the effect that fog has on lighting. This shot was from Bobbi’s front door early in the morning last Friday. At least it isn’t snowing today. Congratulations to Chase on winning a scholarship at the War Fair at GFHS.  His group also got a student choice award.  Those boys had worked on their project for 5 months. Great job, Chase and buddies!!

Day 87 Happy Birthday, Tristan

Monday, March 28 – I can hardly believe that Tristan is turning 6 today!! Have a wonderful birthday, buddy. I miss you so much!! The itouch is sitting here waiting for you.

Day 86 You Promised Me Nicer Weather!!

Sunday, March 27 – Such good news! We found a baby for Traveler. A cow had twins yesterday and we grafted the bull calf on Traveler. She loves him like her own already. It brings tears to my eyes just talking about it. That is one happy cow this morning. She thinks that my hired man is a miracle worker; he brought her baby back to life, or so it sure seemed. A very foggy, icy morning today.  Lots of new babies on the ground. We have had 6 sets of twins so far(two of those one black and one whiteones) and are just getting a good start. Good luck to Becca at the State Gymnastic meet this weekend. Had a great 2nd Photoshop class. I am learning so much from this instructor, who is excellent. She is not only an excellent photographer, but the head of the computer programs for the school district. It helps to have Curtis and Kimmie sitting on each side of me to lend a helping hand too. Now I just need to practice!! Just one more week in my landscape/nature class and then I start my Fine Art Nature Photography which I am so looking forward to, as one of my very favorite instructors is teaching it.

Day 85 I Need A Baby!!

Saturday, March 26 – We are in the middle of a yucky spring snow storm. We had another set of one black/one white twins out in the snow. The black one died already of hypothermia and the white one is in pretty tough shape. We got it tube fed with warm milk, put it in the calf warmer and now it is wait and see. This is the kind of weather that is a real calf killer. They don’t have much of a chance when they are born outside right now. I think this is the part of having cattle that I like the least. I have too tender of a heart. This is shot of my Traveler cow.I had her artificially bred last summer and have been anxiously waiting for that special calf and so was she. Very sad outcome, though. She lost her beautiful calf a couple of days ago. Someone let her out of the corral when the calf was just a few hours old without asking me and her calf got trampled by other cows. I so wish that we could find a baby for her to raise. We need to have another set of twins really soon for that to work, though. I started my Photoshop class last night and it is a good one. There are five of us from camera club that are going which makes it extra nice. Curtis, Kimberley and I had dinner before at Chilis and a nice visit. Fun time.

Day 84 Am I Cute Or What?

Friday, March 25 – I have an old, old cow named Chubby. She has to be pushing 20, which is old for a cow. She has always been a little on the chunky side and is very slow moving, always bringing up the rear when we move cattle. I have kept all of her daughters in the herd, as they are just like her. Chubby surprised us last week with a little calf. This little gal only weighs around 30 pounds and is so tiny. Now that she is a week old, she is getting pretty cute. Here are some shots of the little one. We are under a winter storm warning today. There is supposed to be up to 10 inches of snow overnight. Not good for calving. Babies born in that would not survive.

Day 83 What A Night!

Thursday, March 24 – Last night was The Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond’s speaking engagement. Tiffany and I joined Leslee and her daughter, Kirsten for a delicious dinner at MacKenzie River Pizza first. Then we were off to claim our VIP seats and to enjoy a fabulous talk by Ree. The VIP ticket gave us close seats, plus being first in line to have our books/cookbooks signed. My sis ended up joining us in line for the signing and got her photo taken with us. We had a lovely visit with The Pioneer Woman and shared some of our crazy experiences living the country life. Very nice lady who has built quite a successful business for herself. Her cookbook is the best!! I have given several of them as gifts and all have been well received. It was very hard to take photos, as I had some very big haired ladies right in front of me, blocking my view. But here are a few that I took. There was a  gal that took photos of us with Ree as she was signing. I don’t think she knew how to let my camera focus, as it should have been much clearer. But you get the idea of what a terrific experience we had.

Day 82 Wife Of The Year

Wednesday, March 23 – Tiffany and I went shopping yesterday before having dinner and  attending the Pioneer Woman with Leslee and Kirsten. Bryant had requested washing his pickup which we found out wouldn’t fit through the auto wash because of the width of it’s wheels. Only option left, was to hand wash it. As you can see, she does a darn good job of being a truck washer. I liked the view I got from inside the cab.
