Day 184 A Nice Comfy Home

Saturday, July 3 – Becca shot this bird by the falls. I think they are awesome shots. Not sure what kind of a bird it is, but looks like it found a nice comfy home. Great shots, Becca. I love sharing your photos here on my blog. It is blazing hot today; 80 at 10am already.

Day 183 Wouldn’t This Feel Good Today?

Friday, July2 – It is blazing hot out today. Wouldn’t this feel good about now?  Refreshing! These were shot at Billi’s cabin when it was pouring rain on Father’s Day. Becca and I had fun shooting things in the rain that day. It is hard to believe that July is here already and the 4th is almost here. I hope to get some fireworks photos again this year. Maybe at KOA this time.

Day 182 Who Me?

Thursday, July 1 – Doesn’t Lily look like she is asking what she might have gotten into this time? ? What a doll that little gal is. She is going to break a whole lot of hearts when she gets older. We went to Summer Celebration yesterday and had a wonderful time. Billi, Brad and the kiddos went along and we even stayed for the fireworks. It was such a fun day. Kristie cut Tristan’s hair and he looks like such a big kid. I can’t believe hair could change his looks that much. Some photos to come. It has been really warm the last few days and is supposed to be close to 90 tomorrow. It is finally truly feeling like it is summer.

Day 181 Good Luck, Jenn

Wednesday, June 30 – Jenn moved today to Minot. I am going to miss her terribly. All the gab sessions, crops, workshops, traveling, photo taking and just plain spending time together are things I will cherish forever. So many memories! I wish her the best in her new home. I thought it fitting to put up a couple of my recent Lensbaby shots.  I used my new soft focus optic along with the macro filters to shoot this yellow mum. I know she always thought my flower photos were my passion. So here goes, Jenn. If you happen to stop in to look, this one is for you.

Day 180 Dinner Time?

Tuesday, June 29 – This dinner bell hangs just outside the door at Billi/Brad’s cabin. It was pouring rain at the time I took this, as you can see by the water dripping off the bell. It is clouding up and rain showers are forecast for the next couple of days. Hopefully it will be nice for Summer Celebration in Fort Benton this weekend.

Day 179 Love This Light

Monday, June 28 – I shot this one on a “pouring rain” day. I used to say there was nothing to shoot when it was raining out. I just finished a class that made me realize that I had beautiful diffused light in my dining room whenever those skies clouded up for rain. When I realized that it was going to be one of those weeks, I headed to the grocery store and loaded up on flowers. This unusual colored mum worked well in that nice light. I used a soft gold reflector to get rid of some shadowing. It was Lensbaby time and I used my new soft focus optic along with the +4 and +10 macro filters. I have gotten brave and been moving the lens around a bit with that new optic so I had some selective focus somewhere besides in the middle. You start out by leaving it in the middle. It is a bit hard getting used to the soft focus optic, but I sure do love the ‘feel’ it gives the photos. My instructor told me that it is hard to do corner selective focus with the macros and that I nailed it here!! Nice praise coming from a Lensbaby expert.

Day 178 Rain On Geraniums

Sunday, June 27 – I have a gorgeous red geranium that Tiffany gave me for Mother’s Day that is sitting in my kitchen waiting for the soil to dry up enough for planting outside. One of the days when it was raining so hard, I decided to give it a drink of real moisture and set it out in my deck. It looked so pretty with those raindrops on the flowers that I used my dining room table and got some shots. The light on a rainy day is nice and diffused, so it worked well. I did use a soft gold reflector to get rid of some shadows and tried a couple of different backgrounds. I think I prefer the solid black. Now that I am done with my Shooting On A Rainy Day class it is on to the concepts class.

Day 177 Tulips Anyone?

Saturday, June26 – It has been raining all week and I had a photo assignment that called for shooting either rain shots or inside shots with nice diffused natural light from the cloudy sky. There were some really nice tulips at Albertson’s that were just begging to come home with me. So here are some shots that I did using a soft gold reflector and my tripod. The first three shots were with my 100mm macro and the 40D. The last one is with my 5DM2 and Lensbaby Composer, 10x and 4x macro filters and soft focus optic. I used a tripod and a soft gold reflector; just the light from my round north facing window.

Day 176 A Little Bird Came Visiting

Friday, June 25 – This little bird has been hanging out around front yard lately. Walter says he/she is a baby Robin. Carl says it is a Meadowlark. When Tiffany was here, it lit right on Gage’s shoulder and sat there for awhile. Of course, no camera in sight at the time. Poor Gage was quite tramatized. It is just learning how to fly obviously and doesn’t know how to pick safe landing spots. The little guy seems to like my deck a whole lot. All were taken with my G11 standing right there on my deck. The sun is finally shining this morning. Rain in the forecast tomorrow again though.

Day 175 Meet Mr. Kitty

Thursday, June 24 – I just had to get a shot of Tristan with the famous Mr. Kitty, who is a girl, by the way.  He says that Mr. Kitty came from Africa and that he shot her with his dad. When I asked him what he did with her then, he answered, “we ate her”. I just couldn’t help asking what she tasted like and he answered, “like tiger”. So what does Tiger taste like; what does the son of the chef answer? “kinda like chicken”, of course. Tristan, you are so funny. Becca can’t help laughing when she listens to your stories.
