Day 250 Giant Springs Art

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

Wednesday, September 7 – Here is shot from Giant Springs. Emma is fishing obsessed and loved watching the giant Trout in the pool where the actual Madison Stream comes up at Giant Springs. This is the same water from that underground river that I have in my well at home.  I loved how this photo turned out. The dark spot is the fish. Very artsy looking.

Day 249 Happy Birthday, Tiffany

Sunday, August 28th, 2011

Tuesday, September 6 – Today is Tiffany’s birthday. I know, it isn’t for almost 10 days because I am posting way ahead. I thought this shot from the Steam Museum was appropriate for her special day on the 6th of September when she turns one year older. Funny how rust picks where it is going to attack. Glad it picked the number 6 of this steam engine. Happy Birthday!!

Day 248 Hitching A Ride

Thursday, August 25th, 2011

Monday, September 5 – Yesterday was a very exciting day for Becca. She got to spend several hours with Mick McMillan at his studio. He critiqued her photos and gave her a hand with her camera skills. What a special treat .  I am so impressed that a professional photographer would take time out of his busy schedule to encourage a young photographer. We went to Dairy Queen after for refreshments and then down to Giant Springs to do some shooting. This dragon fly hopped a ride on the truck radio antenna. Here are shots that Becca got. Not the ideal background, but interesting just the same. You have to work with what you have at times. Becca, I am so proud of you!!

Day 247 Freezeout Pair

Thursday, August 25th, 2011

Sunday, September 4 – Kimmie, Mike and I made an early morning trip up to Freezeout to see what we could see in the way of waterfowl. Not much there, but the dragonflies were everywhere. It is evidentally mating season for them. There was a quite a brisk wind blowing, so most of our shooting was out of the truck window. Here are a couple shots with the 5DM2 using the 70-300mm.

Day 246 The Way They Used To Do It

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

Saturday, September 3 – Camera club enjoyed a morning shoot at the steam museum recently. Here are a couple of shots from that day. This lantern hangs on the front of one of the big engines and they did indeed use it to see with. Can’t imagine how.  OSHA sure would have a fit with the way these machines were equipt with safety features. Some shots of Abby, one of our models that day, to come in the near future.

Day 245 All Over

Sunday, August 21st, 2011

Friday, September 2 – As you can see, Lily was done for the day. It was a huge day for a two year old. There is only so much you can see and do before you have to get some shut-eye. Fabulous day in Yellowstone Park.

Day 244 The Taco Bus

Sunday, August 21st, 2011

Thursday, September 1 – We stopped in West Yellowstone to eat at the Taco Bus. I guess they also have one in Dillon that people rave about. It is just an old bus that is painted crazy wild and serves authentic Mexican food. Guess they go back to Mexico for the winter. I sure wish I had gotten a shot of the bus too. The menu is posted on a board out in front and is numbered photos with prices.

Day 243 One More Look

Sunday, August 21st, 2011

Wednesday, August 31 – It was so crowded that we could not get a parking spot by the geysers, so we pulled over down the road and Kristie and the kiddos walked along the river to see the hot water running in from above. Pretty nice to live so close to the park that you can leave at noon and still get home by 7. Off to dinner at the Taco Bus in West Yellowstone.

Day 242 Thar She Blows

Sunday, August 21st, 2011

Tuesday, August 30 – Finally, according to Tristan and Lily, Old Faithful decided it was time. Spectacular, as usual. Worth seeing time and time again. It was very crowded and hot that day, Tristan did get his Jr. Ranger patch and seemed to learn alot about the park from the ranger talk. That first shot was before the crowd really gathered. I think we were standing 4 deep, behind the benches.

Day 241 Someone Else Waiting

Sunday, August 21st, 2011

Monday, August 29 – There seemed to be someone else waiting for Old Faithful to erupt. Guess he/she needed a very warm shower. Look just to the right of the steam.
