Day 366 These Little Guys Are Saying Happy New Year’s Eve

I will be unable to post on the actual evening, so here is the end of the year a few days early. These Little Bee-Eaters are bidding 2012 goodbye and welcoming 2013. May it be a better year for all. I thought I would post a close, closer, closest series this time. They are the prettiest little guys, don’t you think? I am hoping to start a new blog on the first. I believe this will be year 5 for Curtis and I both. I sure hope that he and Leslee will join me again. I can not imagine not sharing my photos in this way.

Day 365 Mother and a Very Big Child

Here is a mother and child giraffe pair. Might be a good one for a canvas. I have had a bunch of canvases made already and have been very happy with them. In fact, I have 6 of them to get ordered today with Groupon coupons.

Day 364 Our Shooting Perch

Here is where I spent everyday shooting wildlife. There were 4-5 of us plus the driver/guide per Land Rover. Once in, we were not permitted to get out while in the wildlife areas, as it was not safe. As you can see most people used a 100-400mm or 400mm lens or the equivalent. A couple of the guys had their wives along to record  in a journal what they were shooting. That is a great idea and wish that I had someone along to do that.

Day 363 Lots of Horns

These three male Impala were not interested in the females and just hanging out. Weather here is finally warming up some.

Day 362 Love Birds

The New Year is almost upon us. I still don’t know where 2012 went, but I must say, I am sure glad it is almost through. I know I have some Love Birds that are better than these, but just don’t have time right now to search. They don’t look too loving, do they? Maybe January will allow me to get my photos more organized and give me some time to do that.

Day 361 Mother and Child

These adorable babies and their mommies were so fun to watch. I believe this was when we were visiting the Serengeti. This little guy is a newborn and mom was pretty protective.

Day 360 High Flying Monkeys

The Black and White Colobus monkeys are pretty neat. Kimmie got a super shot of one midair, but mine turned out too blurry. You have to love that beautiful fluffy tail. Weatherman can’t seem to make his mind up about whether we will have a white Christmas or not. It is supposed to be cold though, in the teens.

Day 359 Water Grazing

This Little Egret was enjoying a romp in the swamp looking for some bites for dinner. It was getting pretty late in the afternoon, so the lighting was not the greatest.

Day 358 Great Grandma Tackling a New Project

Billie is teaching Great Grandma Bonnie how to knit a felted purse. She was a fantastic knitter in her day and made so many beautiful sweaters. This has been a fun new thing for them to share. Thanks to Billie for taking the time to do this.

Day 357 What is So Common About This Redstart?

I don’t understand where the names for the birds come from, such as this Common Redstart. I don’t see anything so common about him. Mom had her Bible study Christmas party today, so I stayed with Dad and we had a great Indian taco from the cafe. Fun day.
