Day 120 Who Me?

Saturday, April 30 – Here is Tristan’s sweet innocent look.  We had such a fun week at Grandma’s house.  Can hardly wait for our 2 week stay this summer. He is having a play date with Emma tonight at our house after Grandma Martha’s funeral. The service was beautifully done by Pastor Sandy and the weather even gave us a break at the cemetery. It has been a long, hard week on Walter.   I got my spot in Tim Cooper’s workshop in November to Zion National Park with a side trip to Antelope Canyon. Pretty thrilled to be seeing these beautiful places again through another photographer’s eyes. I will be there in July too on my way to Sedona for a summer stay at a friend’s house.

Day 119 One Drop At A Time

Friday, April 29 – I have a guest photographer for my picture of the day today. Brooke used my G11 to shoot this freeze action shot of water dripping off the eve of her house. I think it is a pretty cool capture. Good job, Brooke.

Day 118 Best Buds

Thursday, April 28 – Becca and Lily are best buds. They have the best time when it involves makeup, fingernail polish or hair. Easter was another one of those sharing times, as you can see. Another winter storm is on it’s way. I am off to the doc to see if Dad needs a hip replacement. We found out yesterday that Nick is having surgery for a broken collarbone. The family sure seems to be having it’s share of “things” happening lately.

Day 117 And On To The Ice Cream

Wednesday, April 27 – There is nothing like Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream!! I don’t know where Emma found room for that whole bowl, but somehow she did. Imagine eating that huge Prime Rib and then a dessert too. Oh, well, birthdays come once a year and you have make the best of them.

Day 116 Emma 9 Prime Rib 0

Tuesday, April 26 – Emma’s 9th birthday was last week and we went on our annual birthday shopping spree today.  This is something each of the grandkiddos seem to look forward to each year. It is their special day.  We hit Planet Earth, Amazing Toys and Michaels for everything from jewelry to an African frog. Last, but definitely not least, is our annual trip to eat Prime Rib at Eddies, Emma’s favorite restaurant and meal. This is 2nd year in a row that she cleaned up every bite too. The waitress was amazed! She even brought Emma a dish of her favorite, mint chocolate chip ice cream for a special dessert. What a fun day we had!!

Day 115 Lily Graduates To The Ipad

Monday, April 25 – Lily definitely thinks that the Ipad is the “cat’s meow”. I think she believes she has graduated from the itouch to the ipad now. She is pretty intense in these photos, don’t you think?  We met Nick yesterday in Helena to return the kiddos. They had a great time this last week and then at Emma’s birthday party and on Easter. They went home with lots of candy and fun memories. We stopped to eat at the Staggering Ox and I picked up some recipe scrapbooking papers at Ben Franklin. Nice drive over and back.

Day 114 Goodbye, Mom(Martha, Grandma, Great Grandma)

Sunday, April 24 – Easter Sunday. A bittersweet day, as we lost Martha yesterday. The last three months have not been a pleasant existence for her since the incapacitating stroke.  Her suffering is over now and she was very ready to go. She will be very missed by all, family and friends alike. Lots of lovely memories though. I thought these photos were appropriate. I am sure that she had this view of the sunset many times from her house. A beautiful sunset signifying an end to a life very well lived. May you sleep in peace now in your Heavenly Father’s arms.  You will be very missed but, will live on through your  beautiful  children, grand and great grandchildren.

Day 113 Miserable Storm

Saturday, April 23 – We are in the midst of a horrible wet snow storm. The Belt highway was open to one lane traffic this morning. We lost power for a time, but it is back now. Drifts to your waist in lots of places and around 2 feet of snow. I had to trudge through thigh high snow to get to the chicken house this morning. We can’t even find the newborn calves from yesterday. My fear is that they are buried under the snow. Anything born last night or this morning is definitely history. A real nightmare.I am sure that the news is not going to be good when the snow melts.  Tiffany has 3 feet of snow there and the roads are all closed. You have to chain up to even get around. They have dead calves too. Not a very nice Easter weekend. Just when calf prices are high, we get something like this that kills them. Isn’t it fun to be a rancher/farmer? If you aren’t worrying about prices, you worry about winter storms killing calves and hail destroying grain or a drought. Here are some photos that I just took, now that the snow has let up for a bit. Oh, dear, I just looked out the window and I can’t see down to the barn again. It is snowing harder than ever. Here is what it looks like now looking toward the pond. You can just see the fence posts in front of my house and lots of big snow flakes.

Day 112 Whoa, Now That Is A Neat Cloudbank

Friday, April 22 – This was the setting sun a couple of days ago. We sure do get some interesting cloud formations here. There is a stinking winter weather advisory again for tonight. Seems we get one every other day.

Day 111 Happy Birthday, Emma

Thursday, April 21 – Happy Birthday to Emma!! I love this picture of our Emma. This was taken at the photo walk last summer. This picture is so Emma. You were busy taking pictures of something. There is that favorite cat of yours with the soft bones too. Have a wonderful day, my sweet Emma.
