Day 158 Time To Eat

Tuesday, June 7 – Here was the last meal that I had in Rome at a little high end restaurant in my hotel. Funny thing about Italy; the fancy restaurants don’t open until 7 and most people come between 8 and 9 pm. You have a antipasta first, which is an appetizer, then a first course of pasta and then a 2nd and then the main dish and then dessert. And of course then there is Italian bread which has no salt and you don’t put butter on it, but dip in olive oil instead.  I didn’t follow order exactly and began with a pasta and then had another for my main dish. I also had a fruit salad for dessert and just had to have french fries. They have the most amazing fries in Italy. Someone told me that they fry them in olive oil individually. I don’t know what the secret is, but they are very good. Here is my last Italiano meal. It was plated so beautifully; as son, Nick, says, presentation is very important and it sure was here.

Day 157 Herding Sheep

Monday, June 6 – We so lucked out one day to get to see a sheep herder move his flock to a new pasture and he was more than pleased to let us snap away. You might notice that they were running some goats along with the ewes. They raise alot of sheep in this area. The cattle I saw were some Chianina bulls in a lot. That breed originates in Italy and is white with a black nose.

Day 156 Another Florence reflection

Sunday, June 5 – Here is another one of those reflections that Curtis likes so much. This was close to that bridge in Florence.

Day 155 Scooters Everywhere

Saturday, June 4 – Everywhere you go in Italy, you see scooters. It seems to be the “in” mode of transportation. Considering that the price of gasoline there is around $7 a gallon, I can see why these fuel efficient little guys are so popular. They line the streets everywhere, as this example shows. You have to be very careful walking,  as they weave in and out of the people. Here was a fellow on his way to work, I would presume.

How I Got That Shot

Here is a shot that a fellow phototog took of me doing that Pocket Wizard shot in the old barn. Thought it might be of interest.

Day 154 Pretty Landscape

Friday, June 3 – Here is one of the gorgeous spots in Tuscany region. I took this late afternoon using a neutral density filter and a polarizer.

Day 153 Is That You?

Thursday, June 2 – I shot this one as our group was waiting for a herd of sheep and goats to come closer for a composition. It was fun during our critique time to guess who was who. I could only get 6 0f us in the frame which was too bad. This was one that everyone seemed to like and the only one like it.

Day 152 Very Cool Effect

Wednesday, June 1 – A return to more PW shooting; different night, different plant. I believe this one is oats. I like the Asian feel to this one.

Day 151 More Pocket Wizard

Tuesday, May 31 – We spent lots of time using the Pocket Wizards. I sure am glad that I bought my 2 TT5’s before I left. These shots were done as the sun was setting with a little Wizard illumination. More to come tomorrow.

Day 150 Twilight

Monday, May 30 – Here are some shots from the bridge 0ver the river in Florence. I tried a red filter on the 2nd shot. Both taken  with the 5DM2 using the 70-200mmL 0n tripod, 20 minutes after sunset.
