Day 266 The Last Tomato

Thursday, September 23 – Here is the last ripe tomato on my plants. I think it is going to be the only one we see ripen on the vine before snow flies or frost hits.

Day 265 Elk On The Move

Wednesday, September 22 - This was the sight that greeted me as I came around a corner on my way home from Fort Benton Sunday. I guess nobody told these three big guys that hunting season is almost here or maybe, they are out for their last safe stroll. What a glorious sight to see first thing in the morning. I certainly would rather shoot them with a camera anyday.

Day 264 My House Has To Be There Somewhere

Tuesday, September 21 – We had fog as “thick as pea soup” this morning and I had to drive from Fort Benton in it. Not fun, for sure. Visibility was as bad as I have ever seen it. Here are some shots as I was driving up to my house.  It finally has burned off and we have sunshine. The kiddos come tonight to start their 15 day stay. Nick has stocked up on film and memory cards, so we should get some get photos of Africa. Some surprise shots coming tomorrow that I saw on my way home this morning.

Day 263 Happy Belated Birthday, Mom

Monday, September 20 – Last Thursday was Mom’s 83rd birthday. We had a lovely day, out at the ranch, with her and Dad. Then on Friday, we celebrated with breakfast at Perkins. I feel so very fortunate to have such a wonderful Mom in my life. In celebration of her big day, I borrowed some freshly cut Chinese Lanterns from Billi that she had just purchased at the Farmer’s Market.  These are a favorite of mine and hold lots of childhood memories. We used to go to a lady’s house in Belt and pick bouquets when I was little.  Thanks for the loan of the flowers, Billi. Happy Birthday again to MOM!!

Day 262 Happy Birthday, Walter

Sunday, September 19 – Happy Birthday to my hubby, Walter. He is 60 something today.  In honor of his big day, I thought I would share a photo of one of the jobs that is his favorites to do on the farm – fencing(Ya, right!).  As you can see there was certainly enough wire used on this fence post. The grandkiddos will arrive tonight to begin their 14 day stay while their folk’s are in Africa. Tristan needs to go to school, so I will start staying up there during the week. I have lots of fun things planned. We got snow yesterday; yes, SNOW. There were several inches on the ground here at the house, but it is all melted today. Fall is here!! I can not deny it anymore.

Day 261 Tiff’s Three Cowboys

Saturday, September 18 – Tiffany sent me these photos today and I just had to share them. Aren’t these three cowboys the greatest!!! I love those hats and the big belt buckles. Thanks so much for sharing, Tiff. These are wonderful. Can hardly wait to see you in a couple of days.

Day 260 An Abundance Of Bovine Yummies

Friday, September 17 – The bales are all lined up down the creek waiting to be hauled to the bale yard for winter.  That golden light of early morning was perfect for shooting this line that seems to go on forever. We had triple the hay crop we had last year.No hungry cows this year. I went to town today and bought new feeders and a waterer for the chickens that I should be bringing home soon. They are feathered now and we have the electricity hooked up; so are all set.  I need to get out and use my new lens; the Canon 17-40mm L. Curtis and Jenn both have it too and tell me they love it. I needed something wide for the Grand Canyon/Sedona and for Hawaii. Could have used it for those bales!

Day 259 Here I Come

Thursday, September 16- I am so glad that I shot this when I did, as it is foggy out this morning and no chance for a nice sunrise. Nice diffused light out though, so might have to see what I can capture. This one was shot right through my bedroom window. I knew I didn’t have time to get outside before Mr. Sun came peeking around the Highwoods.  The weather certainly is putting a literal damper on getting that Durum in the bin.  I have started a new class on Portraiture called Eye to Eye. It is fantastic. I put two photos up for critique, so far, and got perfects on both. Now have to take one more with the 70-200 to blur out the background. The first two were with macro. I love macro for portraits and so does my instructor. I will be watching Billi’s girls tomorrow, so plan to do some shooting with them in that wonderful tree in their backyard.

Day 258 In Need Of Some Swimmers

Wednesday, September 15 – This early morning shot from yesterday could sure have used some ducks enjoying the calm water. Curtis, have any you could lend me? You are the water fowl guru when it comes to photography around here. It was a rare, no-wind morning. The grass is so tall that I couldn’t get to the spots, at our pond, that I usually shoot from. Way too much foliage this year. Not something we have had to deal with for some time.

Day 257 Shadow Time

Tuesday, September 14 – I happen to glance out my bedroom window last night and saw these cool shadows of my house, trees, horse trailers and the hanger in that beautiful golden light of early evening. Just had to get a shot. We went to Emma and Brynn’s soccer game this afternoon. What a couple of little hustlers they are.
