Day 355 Well, Hello There!!

Tuesday, December 21 – This hen is the friendliest one in the bunch. I guess she needs a name, doesn’t she. Might have to have Becca help me, as she is the ‘chicken lady’.

Day 354 Gotta Love Those Chickens

Monday, December 20 – Just went to the chicken house to check on the water. It froze in the waterer last night and I had to chop ice this morning. All was well this afternoon though. It is pretty cozy in there actually. Just had to get some chicken shots. They are such characters. I found out fast that macro was not an option. They reach up and grab my hair if I get too close. I am including a couple shot of two of the roosters (I have 3). The golden one is a Buff Orpington and I have another one of them. The black one is an exotic mystery breed chicken. Guess I will have to get a book to figure out what breed he is. I have a little exotic breed hen that sort of matches him. He is my crowing rooster and is very loud. The hen is a Barred Rock and I have 8 of them. They are really nice chickens and good layers. I have 5 of the Buff Orpington hens too. I love chickens and it is so nice to have my chicken coop full again.

Day 353 What A Birthday It Was!!

Sunday, December 19 – Brynn had a wonderful birthday yesterday. She got her electric scooter and a brand new bike. She also got a much wanted pillow pet which you can see here. Brooke came home with me last night and spent the day helping me finish Christmas shopping. We had a fantastic time. I love having her here. There is a big snow storm heading this way tonight – up to 9 inches of snow.  Glad I get to stay home tomorrow.

Day 352 Happy Anniversary, Bobbi and Gregg

Saturday, December 18 – It seems like  only yesterday that you guys were getting married.  How time as flown. I sure hope you do something fun for your special day.  My wish for you is a very calm, quiet day with some relaxing time. You both need and deserve it. Tell those grandkids of mine to be good to you. This photo was one that I took in Portland and Silver Falls and it sure looks peaceful to me, like I wish your day could be.

Day 251 Brynn’s Big Day

Friday, December 17 – This is the day that I take lunch to the birthday girl, Brynn. Then we are going shopping after school for a motorized scooter. Marilynn has her Christmas program today also. Can’t wait to see what pretty dress she is going to be wearing. Then tonight is our Camera Club Christmas party. We having a catered meal and then having a white elephant gift exchange. I am taking a lunch bag cooler with 2 lbs. of frozen hamburger and a Mannheim Steamroller CD for mine. Happy Birthday, Brynn, a day early. I know I won’t see you tomorrow, as you are playing in a basketball tournament. How does it feel to be 9 years old!!! This is one of my favorite shots of you. Brooke worked on it in a app that I have on my ipad and I just had to show that too. Funny, isn’t it!! Becca first showed me that app and she had been having so much fun altering pics. Not sure which Brooke use, either Dash of Color or ColorSplash. I sure am loving my iPad.

Day 250 Almost Forgot It Was Winter

Thursday, December 16 – Winter has returned. I was enjoying our warmers temps and here it comes again.  It wouldn’t be so bad, but the ice has not melted from the last storm and the dusting of snow on top makes it very nasty.  These were shot early in the morning when it was really brisk out with high humidity and fog with my G11. Make sure and take a look right in the lower third of the 2nd shot. I didn’t realize there was a gorgeous snowflake there until I was resizing these.Make sure to click on the photo to enlarge it.  I would have grabbed my 5d and a macro lens to get a nice clear shot. I think it is cool though, even the way it is.

Day 349 Missing Summer Flowers

Wednesday, December 15 – I miss the flowers of summer. This is a shot from Glacier from this summer. Just remembering warmer weather and the gorgeous wildflowers everywhere there. There is a very bitter wind blowing out there tonight. I just checked on the chickens and they are mightly glad to be in where it is warm. I helped Brynn with her gingerbread house at school today. It was a fun time. Her house turned out so cute too.

Day 348 Wonder Who These Kids Take After?

Tuesday, December 14 – I took family pictures of Nick’s family this morning. Lily and Tristan were bound and determined to make it a challenge. I wonder who they take after in their facial expressions. We did get some really good ones, but I thought these were hilarious when you saw how their daddy also makes faces. Maybe we should have gone for the all natural look and had them all do funny faces. This was right at the end of the session and everyone was tired. Off to help Brynn do gingerbread houses at school at noon and then home to work on Nick’s family photos. Loved the guest ranch that Nick is the Executive Chef at. We had a wonderful meal last night and I even got to eat some hormone and antibiotic free beef. I am so looking forward to spending some more time up there at Big Sky.

Day 346 When Will It Come Back

Monday, December 13 – Shots from last week when we still had lots of snow. Now we have lots of water on top of ice and it is very dangerous walking. Tiffany and the boys headed home this morning. We had a great time this weekend. Those two are so dang cute and so full of the dickens. Grandpa’s little house wreckers!!

.

Day 345 Brownie Invasion

Sunday, December 12 – Marilynn is officially a Brownie!  She set up her sash and hat for one of  her pictures at the workshop I did yesterday. I thought she had a great idea and went ahead and snapped a photo too. Good for you, Marilynn. The workshop went really good. I know that the girls were listening, as I saw lots of very innovative shots come out of those little point and shoots. It was fun and we were given some of those yummy Girl Scout cookies for helping out.
