Day 130 Wheeeeee!!

Tuesday, May 10 – Kristie and I took Tristan to his soccer practice last week. Lily decided to spend some time swinging while we were waiting.  There is nothing more fun than a little girl and a swing.

Day 129 The Hulk?!

Monday, May 9 – Nick had shoulder surgery last week. Lily and Tristan were shocked when he got home, as he had his arm painted green from the antiseptic. Tristan can not figure out how come Daddy has a big ouchie now after going in to get fixed. Wonder if he is turning into The Hulk? Sure hope you are feeling better soon, Nick.

Day 128 Little Pianists

Sunday, May 8 – Bryton and Gage love playing the piano. Doesn’t Gage look like he is really studying the sheet music? And look at those blue eyes of Bryton’s. Such cuties. Tiff, you need to buy those boys a piano!!

Day 127 Wow, What A Neat Sunset, Big Sky Style

Saturday, May 7 – here was a sunset I shot from Nick’s front porch in Big Sky. You have to remember that we are down in the canyon and just seeing the top of the ridge. I looked up in time to see these awesome colors. This place has it all, doesn’t it? I started my new photography class on electronic flash with Bryan Peterson. Looks to be a great one and perfect because he can help me in person. It is based on his new book that comes out in August. Flash is something I need to learn a whole lot more about. I have my Pocket Wizards and am ready.

Day 126 Happy Birthday, Becca!!

Friday, May 6 – Today is Becca’s 11th birthday. I think it is pretty neat to be turning 11 in 2011. I sure hope you have a wonderful special day. I will see you in a couple of days.  Here is a shot from your mom of you holding Poseidan, your favorite Arachana chicken, who now lives at my house. I love that expression!!

Happy Birthday, Becca!

Wish I could see you on the big day you turn 11. Have a wonderful party tonight. I will see you in a couple of days.

Update on Nick

Nick came through surgery okay. He had a titanium plate and screws put in to hold the broken clavicle in place. It was broken much worse than the doc had anticipated. He also had a tendon graft to help keep everything in place. No wonder he was in so much pain; the sharp end of the shattered bone was sticking in his shoulder. He is resting today and loving the pain drugs. Pictures from Big Sky to come when I get back home. I forgot my card reader!

Day 125 Where Does Bamboo Grow?

Thursday, May 5 – Here is a shot of bamboo growing in Sedona. I sure was surprised that it grew in Arizona. I wonder if it grows in Maine too.  Boy, is this ever my year to travel. I got invited to a fabulous photography workshop in Maine this fall and I accepted!! I first met Kathleen Clemons through my online classes at PPSOP and have taken every one of her courses there. She is a Lensbaby guru and a fantastic photographer.  A group of former students asked her to do a private workshop for a group of us and she said yes.  I am thrilled to be invited to join them. We are going to shoot lighthouses and flowers. She has also invited another one of my former instructors, Ron Goldman, to come along.  We are all staying at a beautiful Bed and Breakfast right on the coast.  As soon as I told Walter about it,  he said go for it, that I need to travel while I still can. I think we both realize that we aren’t getting any younger and having watched our parents lose that ability has been a real wakeup call. He has a fun trip planned to fish in Alaska this fall too.

Day 124 There’s Nothing Like a Plate of Spaghetti

Wednesday, May 4 – We had dinner at Eddie’s the other night and I had my usual spaghetti. It is not my favorite Italian dish in town, but it isn’t bad. Borrie’s Chicken Livers With Sauce is at the top of my list. Becca is home sick today and I hope will be feeling better really soon. I sure hope she gets to spend some of her time reading on her new Kindle.  Wind is really roaring out today, but we have sunshine helping to dry everything out.

Day 123 My New Chicken Abode

Tuesday, May 3 – Here are some shots of my new chicken coop. this is where the youngest chickens will live. I still have my old coop right next door where the laying hens live. If you look closely in that front shot, you will see a white chicken in the window. The ten chicks are now a full 6 weeks old and fully feathered. They have changed so much in the last few weeks and growning like little weeds. It looks like we have some roosters in the bunch, which is a disappointment. They all have names via Becca and Emma. The white one in the window (and in the coop) is Skittles and the big brown Arachana in the center is Poseidan. There are also Chewbaka, Isaak and YardBird. I guess I need to get current on all 10 names, don’t I? I am not sure which breeds we have, but looks like Sussex, Arachana, Buff Orpington, White Orpington and then mystery breed which has brown around the neck. I am really enjoying them so much. We might have to run to Missoula to pick up some hens, if there are too many roosters. These photos are not the best, as it is really hard to get a 6 week old chick stand still and pose. I included the shot of the inside of the coop to show what it looks like.
