Day 194 The Bridge To Where?

What fog we had the whole time in San Francisco. The Golden Gate Bridge was hidden from view so much of the time. This one was taken from just below at Fort Point. I was too afraid to go up on top, so caught this shot from below. My instructor really liked this one.  It does have a rather eerie feeling to it; like where is that bridge leading to.

Day 193 Just A Leaf

Just a leaf, but a very pretty one, at that. This was from Muir Woods, the most serene place to spend a morning shoot. Not sure what is wrong with my computer. Maybe needs to be calibrated. This shot looks so dark here on the 17 inch, but on the new retina display 15 it is nice and bright. Guess I should just post from the new one. That is what I worked on in class and it is fantastic. Nice to have a totally empty machine to work with. Lightroom sure liked it.

Day 192 An Aloe On Steroids

One of the last places we shot at was The Basilica of Mission San Carlos Borromeo Del Rio Carmelo at Carmel-by-the-Sea which is commonly know as the Carmel Mission. What a beautiful place. It was worth every penny of the $4 admission. I have so many pictures to share from here. This aloe plant was unbelievable. It had to be very old, as the stems were woody.

Day 191 The Cheesecake Factory Minus The Cheesecake

We also visited the Cheesecake Factory in San Francisco for a delightful meal. We did have cheesecake, but took that home to enjoy. Sad thing is I got so sick from it. I have to learn to completely stay away from dairy anymore. I couldn’t look a cheesecake in the face right now.

Day 190 The Blue Barn

Kimmie and I found the most delicious food at The Blue Barn Gourmet in Marin at a shopping mall. It is an organic restaurant that serves soups and sandwiches which were out of sight. I had a curried chicken apple salad sandwich and Kimmie had a barbecued bacon chicken. Both were so good that we decided to share. As you can see, they were pretty juicy and oh so yummy. Google their menu and check it out. Wish they were here in Great Falls.

Day 189 Hey, That’s Not A Canon

My fellow photog,  Patrick, who I met on our African safari shot with the competition; the big bad Nikon. And what wonderful compositions, he made too. Really, there is no difference in what camera you shoot with; it is the photographer not the camera that makes the shot.

Day 188 Rosalie, You Will Be Missed So Much

My mom’s roommate, Rosalie, passed away recently. She was such a precious lady and one that I feel so fortunate to have known. She was not only the kindest and sweetest person ever, but so talented. She even wrote music; notably “Elvira” for the Oak Ridge Boys and a symphony for the Seattle Symphony. This is a shot of the balloon and flower that her daughter, Robyn, sent her for Mother’s Day. Rosalie helped Mom so much making her transition to Highgate easier.

Day 187 Waterloo Boy

My Dad’s pride and joy, his Waterloo Boy. I think it is his favorite in his John Deere tractor collection. It was Family Night tonight and we went to help Mom and Dad celebrate a belated 4th. Mom got to ride on the Highgate float on the 4th in Great Falls and Choteau. I hear she did a pretty good job of waving a flag and throwing candy.

Day 186 Ship In The Storm

Here are some shots from the Salsa and Salsa class I took of the cruise ship in the distance as a rain storm moved in. It just got heavier and heavier, as you can see. We were sure glad that there was a roof over our heads. Kimmie wasn’t so lucky though. She went to the Mayan ruins where she got soaked.

Day 185 Heading Home

Heading back home today from foggy CA. Thanks to Curtis, I visited the Red House Cafe many times to enjoy the outstanding cuisine. I have a fireplace in my room which has been nice with the cool weather. So much fog which is excellent for the diffused light. Lots of pictures to come. iPhone shot here.
