Day 283 Returning Home

We are having the barn resided at my parent’s ranch where I grew up.  Here is an early morning shot from this week. I was unlocking the gate just as the sun was trying to come over the mountain. It was a pretty overcast day, but the view is still outstanding here.

Day 282 Good Work, Guys!

Here are my guest photogs for the day. First is Becca with her honorable mention shot. And then we have James’ shot that also was honorable mention. You guys make me proud. You both have so much talent and are so much fun to work with. Getting an honorable mention is fantastic. The competition was tough and the rest of the photographers were all adults.  You are very competitive!

Day 281 Sun Stars

I tried and tried to get a decent sun star at Rock City. The cloud cover just did not cooperate, so this is the best I got. Had a great camera club meeting tonight. Lots of old and new members and a fun time. We had a studio set up with two models and did some shooting. I read  the contest results with the slide show that my friend, Ken, did for me. I was so pleased that both of the young members that I am mentoring placed with honorable mentions. Good job, Becca and James.

Day 281 I Want To Grow Up To Be A Big Bale, Like Daddy

This little alfalfa plant just seems to be saying it wants to grow up to be a big alfalfa bale.

Day 280 The Photographer and His Assistant

Here are Becca and Craig Varjabedian. What a lucky girl to be able to be his assistant this last weekend at the Light and Landscape workshop. She learned so much and had a wonderful time; not to mention all the photos that she took. He did a portrait session with her also that I will share a shot from when I get the file from him. Craig is not only one of the best instructors that I have had the opportunity to learn from, but he has such a fantastic background. He not only has won an Emmy, but has 7 books in print and studied with Ansel Adams. I will be attending one of his workshops in March next year in New Mexico. I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to study with him, as well as to call him a new friend.

Day 279 How About These Colors

Aren’t these colored cans just perfect for shooting? With a camera, of course!

Day 278 Calling All Dogs

What dog could refuse using this old hydrant?

Day 277 Three Is A Magical Number

Odd numbers please the eye. Three seems to be the odd number I find most often, as in this picture of three corral poles. This is from the Square Butte/Cascade area while on the workshop I was attending last weekend. Neat old homestead from the late 1800’s. It was a very windy day with not much for pretty sky.

Day 276 What These Walls Could Tell

Makes a person wonder what happened within these doorways. How many babies were born here in the late 1800’s? How many died? Who lived here? What did they do in life?

Day 275 Monet By The River

Did these down by the Missouri with Becca. She wanted to learn the technique and so this is what we had to work with. I prefer flowers with color, but it was what it was.
