Day 39 Back to the Dinner Table

Back we go to the dinner table with some real “eye candy” from Nic’s in Cottonwood last night. How about these dishes to wet your appetite?  What is it about excellent Italian food that makes one smile! We will be heading out at dawn to the Mesquite Dunes for some shooting early morning shadows in Death Valley.

Day 38 Where Am I?

Have any idea where I was today. It was a very “deep” experience. I think we were very humbled by the immensity. And it was fun to share the experience with my sis. It was beautiful weather to venture out. We will be heading to Death Valley soon. Walter’s first visit and my third. I hope to get some keeper shots at Zabriskie’s Point and Racetrack Playa.

Day 37 Haunted Hamburger Return

Today was time to enjoy Haunted Hamburgers. Mine was a barbecue and Walter’s was a chili cheeseburger. One of the few places I will let myself ingest beef that wasn’t raised by me, free from antibiotics and hormones. I guess I have to believe one time in months will be ok. I do have to admit they were pretty yummy. Then it was off to enjoy the Tuzigoot ruins. Had a bit of a snow storm while eating! Nothing like Montana though and it was 49 degrees.

Day 36 Through a Window Brightly

Can you recognize where I was today? I love this place and have been here many times. My whole body is tired tonight from walking. It was a special time of family bonding and sharing a special place with my sis. I don’t think she will forget this day any time soon. My tummy is full of warm curried chicken soup. The sour dough starter is mixed up and sitting on the kitchen counter for morning pancakes. Ready for a sweet night of restful sleep. Not a great shot, just an iPhone image, as I am too lazy to checkout my DSLR ones. Maybe tomorrow when my brain is rested. Do click on the photo to see the detail in the rocks.

Day 35 Orange Makes My Heart Sing

If you know me well, you know I love the color orange. I have an orange truck, coat, front door, couch, boots, purse, suitcase, camera bag and the list goes on and on. I love orange! It is my feel good color. It makes me happy. My heart sings when I surround myself with orange. I eat the orange M&M’s last, as I hate to part with them. Am I obsessed? We were at World Market today and found the assortment of unusual pops and sure enough there was orange pulling me in like a magnet.

Day 34 Me With A Halo?

I had the prompt yesterday of ME to take a photo of for my other group I do a photo a day for. Now, anyone who knows me very well, knows that I do not do photos with me in them. Why is it that photographers are like that? I love taking of other folks, just please don’t put me in a photo. I am never going to be thin enough, or pretty enough or smile right.  I need to get over my dislike of photos of me and realize that I am who I am and I am not going to change my looks anytime soon. My hair won’t get any whiter, but I guess I could get more wrinkles. I need to see the me inside and let that shine through, but until then, this is what you will get – shadow me. I found that circle of rocks and thought maybe I could position myself just right to make it look like a halo. I know, it is a stretch on many levels.

Day 33 Mourning Dove in Mourning?

This is one of the mourning doves that frequent my feeder. I am not sure where his mate is this afternoon. I hope he is not truly mourning for her, as the neighbor’s cat was here earlier trying to do a little easy hunting. Pretty normal interaction between birds and cats. I love feeding the birds, but also realize that I am actually setting them up to be “sitting ducks”, so to speak. The big grey tiger stripped kitty doesn’t know that he is doing anything wrong. He is following his natural instinct. At least, the weather today is clear and sunny. It poured rain here yesterday and the poor birds never came out of their protection to even eat.
