Day 176 Black Swan

Another budding photographer in the family sent me this awesome image of the black swan at Gibson Park. Brooke, you did good! You’re not only a great horsewoman, but a good photographer too.

Day 174 Montana?

How about this for a backwards Montana on a Sourdough pancake? Maybe a little imagination.

Day 171 A Really Good Capture

Grandson, Tristan, has a very good eye for seeing photographic subjects that most people would miss. I thought this one was very interesting.

Day 170 Alfalfa in Bloom

It is getting close to the time haying season, as the alfalfa is blooming. This is very early, as we normally don’t cut any until after the 4th of July. My guest photographer, Tristan, captured this wonderful photo of an alfalfa bloom last weekend. Who has taken time to notice how truly beautiful the blooms on that plant really are? Well, he sure did and I am so glad. Thanks for sharing this very neat photo today. I hope to capture images of lots of wildflowers this weekend in Glacier Park.  A group of camera club members are attending a macro workshop at the Glacier Institute. Tom Ulrich is our instructor and he is awesome. I love staying at Field Camp and the addition of fellow photogs makes it even more fun. Thursday night is our banquet for Great Falls Camera Club and it is time to announce the awards for Photographer of the Year and Image of the Year. One more meeting to lead and then a few months break until I start another club year as returning President.  We have lots of outings “in the works” this summer for the members to enjoy, starting with the workshop this weekend.

Day 169 Another Budding Photographer in the Family

We have another budding photographer in the family! Tristan is showing lots of interest and has a new camera. Oh, dear, it is the “other” brand though!  I worked with him last weekend and he has a really good eye. The nice thing is, he listens to my guidance and it shows. I sent him out to see what he could capture and then we looked at the images on the computer. We went out and shot together next and I showed him some pointers on what to be looking for and how to capture those really nice shots. He did outstanding! We have a whole set of images in a folder for entering in the fair next month. The fair is creeping up very fast. It won’t be long and my life moves to the fairgrounds for several weeks. I do love being assistant superintendent and enjoy it more each year. We have such a great group of people working for us.

Day 168 A Big Surprise

Last night was a pretty special event for my granddaughter, Emma. I had purchased front row seats months ago as a birthday gift for her to the Celtic Woman concert. We were sitting right there feet from the stage. What a view we had! What she didn’t know, was that I also had a backstage pass, called a “meet and greet” guest pass, for her. There were only 15 people that were allowed to go.  My good friend, Ken, arranged it for her, as he knows the group members. She was shocked when we told her at the concert. Here is a photo from her phone. A pretty memorable evening, to say the least.

Day 167 And Then Came the Deer

Our adventure was not over yet. It was dusk and we were almost to Armington Junction when a deer jumped out of the ditch right beside us and this is the result. What a way to end the day. Plenty of damage, but no one was hurt and we could still drive the vehicle home. What a day!!
