Day 125 The Cloud Forest
This is what the cloud forest looked like each morning when we headed to the lodge for breakfast. A beautiful sight, don’t you think?

My grandson recently graduated from Great Falls High School. I am so proud of his many accomplishments. This photo shows him being introduced as the recipient of the Principal’s Award, the highest award given to a graduating senior. Way to go, Chase! You have such a bright future ahead.
This leaf was laying along one of the paths leading in to the cloud forest. It was rain forest, but actually in the clouds because of the elevation we were at.
A bit different view of the Sword-billed Hummingbird. Each of the 5 areas we traveled to had different hummingbird species.
This beauty was residing at the Guango Lodge where we stayed for two days after crossing the Continental Divide. The East Andes are 12,800 ft at the highway summit. A beautiful place, but rather cool. They gave us hot water bottles at night to sleep with. Watching this little guy suck up the hummingbird nectar was a real treat. I was lucky to get a shot as soon as we got off the bus, as he seemed to be just waiting for our arrival. Our transportation was  in a big bus that normally holds 40 people. Our group of 10 plus Tom got to spread out and bring all our gear onboard. We had a fabulous local guide, Luis, who was wonderful with his knowledge of the area.
I have been MIA for more than a month. Took a trip to Ecuador photographing hummingbirds. There was very little internet service there and no cell service and it was delightful. I have to say, I did not miss the lack of communication. Beautiful country and fantastic photo ops. I have thousands of images to go through, which I have just begun to do. I had both camera bodies act up, apparently from the high humidity, so I am not sure what the quality will be of the photos. The hummingbird in this silhouette is sticking his tongue out after enjoying a drink in the near by feeder.
