Day 101 A Balancing Act
I just had to share these shots. When the hired man dumped a couple of bales off up here by my house, he had one roll just right to balance on an edge. I thought it would make a pretty cool composition in the early morning light. As of tonight, it is cow dinner. Had a crazy day today. Found a cow laying on her back by the feeder this morning; dying. Put a call in to Walter and we got her uprighted in time. We lost one earlier that way. When they are very pregnant and try to reach around to lick an itch on their back, they roll over and can’t get uprighted. They die in a pretty short period of time, as they bloat and therefore, can not breath. I have just 20 cows left to calve which is such a relief. What a busy week it has been – Marilynn survived her tonsils being removed, Carl turned 39 and Chase became a teenager.

I especially love the light of the bottom photo!
Thankfully you got to that cow in time. Whew! Beauty calved yesterday afternoon – a heifer. That makes 5 done with one more to go and all have been heifer calves. We’ll see if #1996 keeps it going with a heifer calf or a bull. =)
It’s a busy day with Zane at state little guy wrestling tourney today and the big girls with an away softball double header. We are spending Easter at home with a prime rib roast for dinner. It’ll be nice to have everyone at home for one day this week.
Happy Easter.
Hugs and lots of love,
Deb
