Day 310 Camels in Africa?
Tuesday, November 5 – I thought I was seeing things when we came driving up to this group of camels. They were being tended by Masai. Not sure what the story was of where they came from, but it was an obvious roadside tourist attraction. They wanted money for photos taken with the warriors standing with the camels. The fellow here looks like he his contemplating how much to charge. The fellow in the bottom shot was by my window negotiation price which we never did pay. A different take on ears that have had gauges in them. We saw this done by several young men at the Masai wedding we attended. They tuck the stretch earlobe over the ear.

Those camels do get around…there are some in Australia, and still rumors about a few wild ones in the southwest left over from the 1800’s…I guess that is something good to do with floppy earlobes!
So why did you guys stiff him for the photos? <>

We didn’t stiff him. Our guide told us to not pay him. We were advised to never get out of the vehicle and that is what he had in mind. We had to follow the guide’s advice at all times. We had to be careful about people reaching in the vehicle and grabbing things too.
Sounds like good advice! {!-{>
Who would have thought, camels in Africa! Not me.
