Day 340 Hamerkop

Another bird that is very popular to find and photograph; the Hamerkop. It could be either male or female, as they are colored the same. As you can see, he/she is grooming for a nice shot. I was surprised at how much my shot looks just like the one in my bird book.

Interesting looking bird. Not very colorful, is he???. Did you get a bird book over there so you could identify these???
Also, when are you headed to Mayo. We NEED to do lunch sometime.

I purchased two of them before I left so I had them along for reference. I didn’t always have time for identification though until getting home and going through the photos. Our guides could tell us what every bird or animal was and we wrote them down at night. I will be taking a notebook in the LandRover next time to do my writing immediately. Lesson learned, as you don’t always remember.
